Original Dr. No poster sold for more than £5,000 at auction

A recent Bonhams auction of entertainment memorabilia featured several classic film posters, including an original 1962 Dr. No poster.

The classic 30” x 40” poster was sold at auction for the hefty sum of £5,250. The memorable poster with art by Mitchell Hooks and design work by David Chasman introduced the James Bond films to the world back in 1962.

The original Dr. No poster was joined in the auction by other printed Bond memorabilia including original scripts for Goldfinger and Thunderball, and a memo from Ian Fleming concerning ideas for the first Bond film.

Also auctioned was a US poster for Dr. No and promotional posters for From Russia With Love, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Live and Let Die and Diamonds are Forever. Most of these items reached around £500-700. For a full list of Bond items sold off at the auction, head over to the Bonhams website. The worth of these posters shows that iconic prints can live on well past their intended lifespans.
