Some of the most common types of self-adhesive labels

Permanent
Permanent labels are used when a label is to be placed and no subsequent removal is planned.

Semi-permanent
Semi-permanent labels use a glue that allows for repositioning of the label for a period of time after application. Eventually (usually within two or three days) the adhesive sets and becomes permanent.

Peelable
Peelable labels can easily be removed without leaving residue on the area to which it was applied. These are termed removable labels. They adhere well enough to stay in place during normal use and handling, but can still be removed with a simple pull.

Freezer
Freezer labels are permanent labels with a service temperature of -40°C.

Self-cling
Self-cling labels do not use adhesive at all. The material (usually PVA) has a static charge to enable its adhesion to flat smooth surfaces such as glass. Most labels can be produced in a wide variety of sizes, on sheets or rolls.
